Fun with Dwain & Danelle

Geoff and I LOVE a little eatery in Simon's Town run by a really awesome girl from Bloemfontein. Her restaurant / coffee shop has just been re-branded 'Cooked' and the food is really brilliant!

Dwain & Danelle came through from town & met us in Kalk Bay...we decided to go for a drive & ended up at Cooked for a really lovely meal (& great company of course!)

We spent some time back in Kalk Bay - in the park where Dwain & Geoff took advantage of the amusements:

James' Last Few Days

My Canadian friend James lived in Cape Town for a while for work which was great as I got to see him again after many years! (We met in London as we were working for the same company doing 'street pitching' sales)...

We went out for a final day out just before he left - including a visit to Boulders to see the penguins.. a trip to Cape Point and a walk along the top of Diaz Beach.. ending up at friends of his for a 'last supper'

Family Fun

We visited our friends, Peter & Yuliya & their two boys, Sasha & Max just before Christmas... We had a fantastic photoshoot with them:

They have the strangest spider installation in the bushes at the entrance to their home.. These spiders have taken up residence & joined web-forces to create a massive mega-web:

Angela's Visit

I was treated to a wonderful visit from my ex-flatmate & really good friend Angela over the last couple of weeks... We had a really fun lat night out with Graeme at Cavendish: Dinner at Simply Asia [yum!] and the latest Harry Potter movie!

Geoff's Birthday Celebration(s)

My Love turned 50 this month & so we had a number of celebrations...The first of which, was a family dinner (mine & Geoff's) on the night before his actual birthday day. I made a big pot of fresh pasta...2 huge salads & Geoff made his favorite bolognaise sauce (I made a veggie alternative) & we had a wonderful dinner around our party-size yellow wood kitchen table:

We were really spoiled with Robyn's chocolate birthday cake for dessert.

We have a bit of a tradition of birthday cake in bed with tea on the morning of our birthdays, so I made some fairy cupcakes from Tina Bester's book "Bake" which turned out DELICIOUSLY! (It is actually one of the easiest, most delicious recipes I've come across for cupcakes - even better than my "White Cupcakes" recipe which uses the creaming method) ... I made lemon and (fresh) vanilla flavored icing which I spaghetti'ed on top:

After a lazy morning, we headed out to town to the dangerous camera supplies shop, ORMS. We went out for lunch at Mugged on Roeland and had a pretty lovely day in general.

The last phase of Geoff's birthday was last weekend: we invited loads of people for music, pizza and drinks at Solole's BAROCCA LOUNGE.  Here are some scenes from Geoff's birthday day and of the party:

Shelley & Steve

Geoff is working. I am supposed to be working. But it is Saturday and I'm browsing through my favorite blogs...catching up with friends on email & enjoying the warmth of the sun coming through after the rain & the snow on distant peaks making the wind icy. I had a lovely email from my friend Shelley to which she attached a picture of herself & one of her sweetheart of a husband, Steve. The pics are so beautiful I had to post them :) They are living in London at the moment...they just spent some time in France & they leave today for a few days of exploring fjords in Norway.

I emailed the travel agency.
